Webhooks on events in D365FO

I have come across blogs, which shows the capabilities of D365 BC and CRM to register webhooks, and thus on any event(e.g. item modified) those systems can push the modified item to the webhook subscriber(via http).

Is that also possible with D365FO?

Thanks and best regards,
Thomas Berg, Vertica

    Hi Thomas,

In Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, we have the concept of Business Events:

Great, thanks for the prompt reply.

Im puzzled why Business Events are not mentioned in the import / export strategy documentation of Microsoft as a good way to export data. Any ideas why :) ? Maybe it was released very recently?

Also, are there any concerns as to use Business Events as the primary integration pattern for exporting data of the system, e.g. to Logic Apps, and the let Logic Apps do all the transformation?

    Hi Thomas,

The business events should indicate that something happened in the system and pass context to an external sources. If you have enough data in context it can be used as an integration message, but if you want to export the whole object via an event (like purchase order) - it's not a good solution.

Please read also this article, docs.microsoft.com/.../business-events-dev-doc

    Thanks, Sergei. Noted with thanks.

In that case could it be a more feasible pattern to pass on the context to client(e.g. Logic App or Function) and have the client make a callback via ODATA API or custom service to fetch the whole object and proceed the outbound integration?

    Hi Thomas,

Yes, depends on the volume of data to be exported you need to select the right integration strategy (oData or Data package API or something else)
