Timesheets error

Posted on by 162

Hi.

I have a strange error when entering to a worker timesheet in Dynamics 365 for Operations. When changing a work week in a timesheet and then clicking on exit (X) button, I receive this error: "XXX cannot enter timesheets for employee XXX for this period XXX". I didn't change anything in the timesheet, just checking the worker hours to approve his timesheet. You cannot do anything to correct this error, only closing the browser and opening it again resolves this error.

Does anyone knows why it happens and how to resolve it?

    Hi Ludwig.

Yes, the workflow is fine. And you are right - after reopening the browser everything is fine.

As you proposed, I will forward it to a developer to have a look.

    Thanks,

    Roberto

    Hi Roberto,

    This sounds really strange.

Have you double checked that everything is ok with your workflow? Maybe something is missing there.

Is it right that everything works fine if you close the timesheet/browser and reopen it? If so, let's have a developer a look at the issue as this sounds like a bug. (Note: I already had a quickl look at LCS but could not find any hotfix that might fit for your D365fO System).

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig.

No, I'm not modifying anything. I'm just reviewing the timesheet of a user for different weeks within the same timesheet.

    Hi Roberto10,

If I understand correctly what you modified then I would assume that this change requires the setup of the delegate functionality as you modify (record) time for somebody else.

Is it possible that you test setting up the delegate feature to verify whether this solves the issue?

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thank you Ludwig,

But I am not trying to modify this timesheet. The timesheet was sent to me for approval, and when I am changing the weeks to review posted time, I receive this error.

This message exists without modifying, only when changing the reviewed time.

    Hi Roberto10,

Can you check that you have setup the timesheet delegate function?

If you want to modify a time recording for another user you need the allowance to do that, which can be setup through timesheet delegates.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
