Insufficient Permissions Error Message

Hi,

Does anyone know the minimum security permissions required in CRM 2015 to view contact & account records? My users keep getting the 'insufficient permissions...' error even though they have read, write, create and append permissions for both Contact and Accounts.

I've had to create a brand new role, I've been able to dig up some info on what is needed for users of CRM 2013, so e.g. where you need to give extra permissions for 'Opportunity Relationship' and Process Configuration, I cannot seem to find anything similar for 2015?

Thanks

Spaz

    Hi,

One best option is to setup tracing in your CRM server and then check log files, which will give you pointer which permission you are missing.

You could also refer below thread where user had similar requirements: social.microsoft.com/.../minimum-security-permissions-to-view-accounts-contacts

    Thanks

    Hi Spaz

The best thing to do when creating a new Security role is start with an existing roles, such as Salesperson, and then remove the entities that are not requires. This ensures you dont have the issue with user probems with logging in or accessing core records.

It's helpful to keep in mind the minimum privileges you need to define for some common tasks. These include:

To render the home page: prvReadWebResource, prvReadCustomization

To render an entity grid (that is, to view lists of records and other data): Read privilege on the entity, prvReadUserSettings, prvReadQuery

To view single entities in detail: Read privilege on the entity, prvReadSystemForm, prvCreateUserEntityUISettings, prvReadUserEntityUISettings

To render an entity grid: Read privilege on the entity, prvReadCustomization, prvReadWebResource, prvReadUserQuery

To render entities: Read privilege on the entity, prvReadSystemForm, prvCreateUserEntityUISettings, prvReadUserEntityUISettings, prvWriteUserEntityUISettings

Kindly Tick 'Yes' to Verify :)

    Best Wishes, Raz

Privileges to read system forms might be missing from security roles if you have upgraded from an older version where these privileges were not used.

Or you might have a more complex issue with security roles being assigned to forms that they should not be, as described in the comments section of this article (not the article itself):

When your users get the insufficient permissions error, there should be a download error log file button, please download it and you will see what permissions are missing.

For example you might have a relationship with other entities that you should have at least read permission on them.

Thank you everyone, I've managed to fix this now it was a combination of all the suggestions mentioned above, I now realise that there are quite a lot of read permissions needed on the Customisations tab, also downloading the log file was very helpful it helped to pinpoint the exact permissions required.
