Advanced Bank Reconciliation

Hi,

I have a question regarding the “Step 1: Find statement lines to generate voucher” section in the Reconciliation matching rules form.

When multiple bank statement field criteria are added in this step, does the system apply AND logic or OR logic between them?

For example, my requirement is for the rule to generate a voucher only when the description contains “Demo” and the transaction amount is below 20. However, with the current configuration, the rule is still matching transactions with an amount of 20+, which suggests that the criteria may not be evaluated together as a single set.

I would appreciate clarification on how multiple criteria are combined in this step.

    Hi,

Based on the configuration shown, conditions within the same group are evaluated using AND logic. So both conditions (Description contains “Demo” and Amount ≤ 19) should be applied together. If transactions with higher amounts are still matching, it is likely due to another rule being triggered.

I would suggest reviewing other active rules or group configurations that might be impacting the result.

@Rashid.Ali I am actually only running the one rule to test it so there can not be interference with any other rule

@Rashid.Ali I did the set up just like in your example and it is still matching 20 and above when im expecting it to match only up until 19.

    Hello,

    It's an AND logic.
If you would like to have an OR logic, you need to split this rule in two rules (first rule is amount <20 and the second is Description contains demo)

    Thank you,
    Giorgio

@Giorgio Bonacorsi Actually AND logic is what I would expect. But its not working in the way that I have explained above. If my criteria is a voucher should be created when the matched transaction has description 'Demo' and transaction value below '20', how would you create the rule?

I have figured it out, this was a simple logic error on my part.

The reason why it was not working is because I was failing to realise the transaction value was a credit value, therefore its technically -20. So when I configured <=19 it was still picking up the credit 20 because -20 still satisfies the criteria.

What I have done to correct is below. This mean any value within debit 19 and credit 19 will match, outside of this it will not match.

@Rashid.Ali @Giorgio Bonacorsi Thank you for your help
