Best Way to Move Summarized Account Data from Old Accounting System to GP?

Hello all,

I think the subject title for this question said it all. I'm wondering what is the best tool to move summarized account data form an old accounting system over to GP? Also, is it hard to do?

Thanks for all feedback - as always, it's appreciated!

GP's Integration Manager.  It isn't difficult.  You just need to make sure you get the mapping correct.  Are you talking GL account data?

Thanks Frank, and yes GL data. We're only doing summary.

Piece of cake using Integration Manager.  You'll want to import Account Balances by period then.  They'll import as a journal entry.  I typically do one import per period to minimize the number of lines per JE for reconciliation purposes.

One more question, how can I install Integration Manager? I see that in 2013 you could do so through the  gp 2013 setup utility? Did this change for 2015?

It's in the AdProd folder of the install media - IntMgr.  Good luck and let us know if you have more questions.

    Hi

Just to add another option (especially if you won't use Integration Manager for anything else) - from GP 2013 R2 on, you can copy a journal from Excel and paste it into GP.  This can work well for summary balances where you are just normally bringing in one journal per period.

I did use that method on my last implementation and it was so easy to show the users how to do it.

And I am a long time user of Integration Manager and a great supporter.  Just wanted to make sure that if others look at this post, they see there is another option.

    Cheers

    Heather

Great option Heather!  I forgot all about that.  Haven't done a new implementation of R2 or 2015 yet.
