Inventory Integrity Check - Fatal log message

Hi,

I have a question on integrity check on Inventory.

Since an engineer who used to take care of SL left our company recently and there's no one to ask, I decided to post this question on this forum.

I am trying to figure out one of error messages logged in Fatal log file which shows as follows. And as it says so, the site no longer exists on the site table.

System Rules Violation in Table INTran: (Batch '058112', LineRef '00003', RecordID: '374473')
SiteID field contains invalid value.

My questions is when a site is deleted from the master table, SL won't clean up/edit any related records so that integrity check does not fail with FATAL error like this case?

Or do we have to manually clean up the INTran table (and any others?) records, or is it implying any other discrepancies?

The person seems to have custom coded elsewhere and some don't seem to be quite correct, so there are more bunch of errors showing up in the FATAL log. Any help will be appreciated!!

Thank you.

Recreating a site to restore the deleted site id will address the integrity check errors.

If the purpose of deleting the site was to remove an inactive site, the Professional Service Tools (or Keychange) can be used to update all references to a different site id with an easily recognized name: i.e. "Inactive". Historical activity for multiple inactive sites could also be merged using the Combiner tool, making identification of the remaining active sites easier.

    1. I talked to an expert in this area and they are not sure there is anything to do besides recreate the Site ID, since it should have never been removed.

    2. Fatal errors only occur when you’re running Integrity check, sadly we have several companies that refuse to run Integrity Check simply because they regularly jack the tables which eventually throws fatal errors with Integrity check.  It does make it more difficult to “fix” things in the future when Integrity Check was built into the system to fix certain things.

    Hello Jeremy,

After a long period of time that I didn't receive a response, I really appreciate your helpful advice.

    1. Once this inconsistency occurs by removing the site record directly from the table, what could we do to restore the system to the healthy state without re-creating the site ID?

    2. Basic question - when you see the fatal errors like this and the system is not rebuilt, what could be the impact to the system? More specifically, is it OK not to clean up the fatal errors and keep running the system as it is?

    Thanks!

You cannot delete a site record through the screen once the site has been used in the system. A message that record is used elsewhere and cannot be deleted will occur (error message 58) . If the site is deleted from the site table, this would create a fatal error in the integrity check. If fatal errors exists, the rebuild on quantities and costs will not complete.
