Dynamics 355 and VS Code

Posted on by 1,760

Hi guys

I usually use visual studio professional for plugin and custom workflow activity development. I now only have visual studio code. Has anyone ever used it for this purpose or will i still need visual studio professional or enterprise?

    Hi,

The minimum version requirement for Visual Studio is Visual Studio 2017(Professional / Enterprise / Community) in order to write and register a plug-in.

    It can be found in:

Tutorial: Write and register a plug-in (Microsoft Dataverse) - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

You can also get the best choice by selecting your develop information in Visual Studio: IDE and Code Editor for Software Developers and Teams (microsoft.com).

You will need to sign your plugin assembly. That's at least one of the reasons why you will most likely need to still use visual studio.
