Hi Experts,

We are currently transitioning the sales tax settlement period for one of our tax authorities from monthly to quarterly to comply with new requirements.

Should we create a new settlement period with a quarterly duration, or should we modify the existing period by changing the duration from monthly to quarterly?

I would appreciate your expert advice and recommendations on the best procedures to implement these changes.

Hi,

I think its easier to modify the duration and it should also work to modify it.

There is always a risk that something goes wrong due to constant updates in the system. I would highly suggest to copy the DB from PROD to a sandbox, modify the duration and post the tax as well as the VAT report in order to check if everything is find. If it doesnt work, you can still create a new period. The drawback is that on every sales tax code you have to change the settlement period. The effort also depends how many sales taxes you have.

HI Zubair,

In addition to the reply from Adis, note that the settlement periods also remain a status if the tax reporting was completed or not. Changing the period length when a settlement was posted for a period is not possible.
