MR The Operation Could not be completed due to a problem with the data provider framework

I just completed an installation of MR CU16 and migrated over the client's FRx data. I am getting this message as soon as I try to open a row definition even after going over all the usual checks. There are no records in either the GL00200 or GL00201 tables and a function currency has been assigned to all four of their companies. What else can I check? Client does not use AA and no user defined fields have been assigned.

The fix for this was to complete the company account format setup for a newly created company. Apparently just before I did the upgrade some one had used GP Utilities to create a new company. However, none of the setup work had been done. Once I defined the account format setup and rebuilt the DataMart MR worked.

We just saw this one when the User Defined Field Names in General Ledger Setup were blank and/or duplicated.

Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Setup >> Financial >> General Ledger

    Hi Richard,

For what it's worth... I've seen that installing straight one of the latest releases of MR2012 will often fail, due to some changes in structure that not always considered past releases.. Have you tried for example to start with CU10 or CU11 and than apply CU14 or CU16 ? I've seen changes between releases that impacted the way the data was pulled from GP.. and always used the Legacy connector to avoid the 'middle-man' DataMart..

We even tried to blow away the FRx conversion and the data mart and do a fresh install and that did not work. Client then decided not to waste any more time. They had seen BI 360 and decided to go with that and use their FRx to BI 360 conversion tool.

This might be a red herring.

We saw this with CU15. Created a case. They were no help.

We found that if we created a brand new user in Active Directory and added them to MR they were able to run reports just fine. Microsoft's solution then was for us to completely remove users from AD that were having this issue, blow away all profiles, etc. Then re-add them to AD and all is fine.

Also, is there anything at all in the event log?

    Hello Richard,

Thanks for the details. The error message indicated is really a generic error message which means something failed at the MR services level, and the MR client cannot provide any more details.

    1. Restart the MR services to ensure no "bad" data is stuck in memory from the migration process.

    2. If using the data mart, make sure the data mart integration is running successfully and that the initial integration has completed without error.

    3. Re-create the issue directly on the MR server, and then review the Windows Event Viewer. You will want to look in the Application Log as well as all of the custom MR event sources under Applications and Services Logs | Microsoft | Dynamics. Each of the MR sources start with "MR-". There may be more than one log which has information. Also, there is likely multiple messages for each time you re-create the problem so you will need to review all of the messages, not just the top one listed.

Please let us know what you find out so we can continue to help.

    Thanks!
