I want to set up the ability to use email to send quotes. I want the email to come from the users own email address and not a generic one. If I set up this using SMTP setup the emails go out with the sender as whatever the account is that is entered in the SMTP setup. I have seen there is another option for setting up your business inbox in outlook. This might be the option I need but I am unable to get it to work with my on-premise exchange server using my email address. Are there ports that need to be opened as my email is the exchange, administrator?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the question. We support using an on-premise Exchange server with the Outlook add-in, but there are a few things that you will want to check:

For on-premise Exchange, we support Exchange 2013 and Exchange 2016. Earlier versions are not supported.

The NAV web client must be deployed and accessible by the end user. The business inbox in Outlook hosts a version of the web client, so the user must have access to it. The web client must also be configured for SSL. The only ports you would need to make sure are opened are those needed for the web client.

NAV must be configured to authenticate the user with NavUserPassword or AAD authentication.
