Complete Shipping Advice - Availability Check in Warehouse Shipment Creation Process

Hello, MS Family.

I am need some assistance understanding the logic behind how a Warehouse Shipment is created for a Sales Order with a Complete Shipping Advice.

In my scenario, there is a new Sales Order with a Complete Shipping Advice and for a Qty of 700 and there are 800 already on a Warehouse Pick.

Currently, in Bin Contents there are only 200 Available to Take. I was able to create a Warehouse Shipment for 700, but the Warehouse Pick was only created for 200.

If the Shipping Advice is set to Complete, I would expect that a Warehouse Shipment could not be created due to there only being 200 Available to Take.

It seems that BC is looking at the Quantity (Base) and not the Available Qty. to Take, could anyone confirm this?

    Hi

I could be wrong here. But the shipping advice only check for the full shipment when you create warehouse shipment. If you do that and you do not have enough you will receive the error message like below. I believe the logic is if you want to pick and stage and wait for the rest.

As it turns out, the Warehouse Shipment Creation logic looks the Current Qty, which is essentially the Total On Hand Amount and somewhat goes against the Complete Shipping Advice rule. While there is enough inventory to cover the order, the item would need to be removed from existing warehouse picks prior to creating the pick for the order with the Complete Shipping Advice.

This then becomes the "robbing peter to pay paul" scenario, which my client does not want to manage.

    Thanks for info

I wonder if Item Reservation can help here. I mean if you turn on item reservation and system reserve the item for each order then does it help with your scenario?

    You're Welcome

Reservations would indeed be a solution, but a decision was made not to use them due to the volume of sales shipments that they post daily.
