Posted on by 85

We`just upgraded to GP 2010 on a server 2003 standard edition SP2  operating system. The domain computers connected  can load GP2010 and posting and record are accessible. But GP is not accessible on the server 2003 where it is installed. In other words, GP 2010 is not lunching on the server 2003 operating system where it is installed. Kindly assist us as we are unable to backup since the upgrade was performed.

Dear Victoria, just want to say a big thank for your last post as it indeed made my day. The Symantec Endpoint Protection was the weed that kept me on hold. The system is alright now and GP smiles like a baby on the server.Thanks..

Are you running Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0?  If so, there is a KB article that may help:

Did you try having Task Manager running while you launched GP? Did you at least see DYNAMICS.EXE try to launch and then just disappear? It must have launched at some point in time because you said you did the upgrade on this server so at least GP Utilities ran. You can try uninstalling all of your .Net Components and then reinstalling. There is always SYSINTERNALS to watch all the dll's fire to see where the stoppage occurs.

Thanks Richard for your contribution. But please note that GP is still not lunching on the server. The sever in question meets all the GP 2010 requirements. Before the upgrade, we were running GP10 and it worked beautifully alright. Now i really can't say where the problem is from.

Are you running Symantec Endpoint Protection? If so, disable it or any other anti-virus softwsre and try to launch. Have Task Manager running and see if DYNAMICS.EXE starts to run and then just stops.  We have an XP computer do this and we never did figure out what was wrong.

YOu could also try copying the entire GP program folder from a working computer and copy over the GP program folder on the server and see if GP launches.

Please note that , there is no error on the server and Data Execution Prevention is not turned on. In addition, the clients connect to the server via ODBC and can post and update records.

Thanks Francisco. There is no error on the server and Data Execution Prevention is not turned on. The clients connect to the server via ODBC.

Hmm, you can backup from SQL, but on the issue of win 2003 does it displays an error? is Data Execution Prevention turned on? how does your clients connect? ODBC? Citrix? TS? the more information you can provide without compromising  company sensitive data is best when reaching out to the community.  I'll be on the watch for your response, to help you have a great day
