Auto Complete - Web Client

Posted on by 22,647

Ok, am I nuts, but I can not seem to make AutoComplete work in Web Client.

I think I recall somewhere that this is currently a feature that is not available, but I need confirmation.  Fortunately the client is new to GP and has not used desktop client and therefore does not know what they are missing.

Is it coming?  Is it here and I am just lost.

Comments and suggestions please.

    Hello Bill,

I can't say for certain, but it wouldn't hurt, in that the Trusted App msi does allow Silverlight to access local system resources which could also include the local printers and disks.

    Thanks,

Derek, would this include local printers and local disks?  We have a situation where the client running Payroll cheques can not complete the process as she has to save the file created and Silverlight seems to not like that - so might this solve that problem?

    Hello Shannon,

In the default C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP Web Client\GPWeb\ directory, there is a DynamicsGPTrustedApp.msi file, and that is what is being referred to.

Usually, if it hasn't already been installed, at the bottom of the Web Client browser window, there is a small 'padlock' icon in the status bar that you can click on to begin this install.

As mentioned in the Web Client installation guide, by default, Silverlight runs in 'sandboxed' mode, which restricts the access the application has to local machine resources.

The local machine can be configured to allow Silverlight application (Web Client) to run in 'Trusted' mode, which allows it to access local system resources with fewer prompts for the user.

    Thanks,

Rebecca- what do you mean by installed the trusted app?

I was able to test it out a bit more and find some similarities.  I could make AutoComplete work on machines after I had installed the Trusted App.  Once this was installed, the AutoComplete would work in the Web Client on multiple machines.  Hopefully this helps someone down the road if they are trying to get it to work.

  • RE: Auto Complete - Web Client

    Hello Rebecca,

What I could find is that Auto Complete does exist and work in Web Client, though I've seen cases with varying degrees of success with this functionality.

I also found one case that mentioned that Auto Complete is session-based in Web Client, but didn't find anything specific either way.

We did have this as a known issue at one time, but it was closed as 'working'.

    Thanks,

    Bill,

Have you been able to find any information on this?  I cannot find confirmation on if it does or does not work in GP 2015 Web Client.  My customer has recently went with Web Client and the users are missing this feature.

Any information you can share would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Rebecca
