Power BI and Dynamics

hello Community 

i'm  new guru

i hope that everything goes well....for everyone

I have a question about connecting Power BI pro-stand-alone version  with Dynamics 365 

just to make sure that I understand 

so the minimum requirements to connect POwer BI with Dynamics is  : 

Requirements

  • Power BI service registration

  • Power BI Desktop.

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) instance

I want to know if read right! 

it's just for online instance for azure architecture that's mean that I can't connect my Power BI pro stand alone with my local CRM Dynamics 365

    Hi Asma, 

    If it is local CRM system why not use ETL export data to local data warehouse?

    Hello Asma,

    Hope you are well.

    You can connect Power BI Desktop with Dynamics 365 Onprem version.

    To use Power BI with Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on-premises), follow these steps. Notice that automatic data refresh isn’t supported.

    1. Configure the standard OData Feed connector to your Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on-premises) system by using Windows or OAuth authentication. You do this by creating an account on the Power BI site and then selecting the OData Feed connector.

    2. Build reports with Microsoft Excel or Power BI Desktop.

    3. Upload your reports to Power BI and build dashboards.

           4. Refresh reports locally with Power BI Desktop and then upload them again either by refreshing with Excel or Power BI Desktop.
