We have problem of GP printing problem, regularly users experiencing close itself or hang/no responding, whenever the user printing certain documents or reports.

I noticed that the DEX.INI generate a long list of "winspool" text lines in the file, and I am wondering if it is OK for me just to delete those lines ? (Click here   to see the file content, can I delete those lines in the red-color box). Is safe to delete those text lines with wording "winspool" ?

Currently, we regularly and scheduled to clear c:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* and then restart the printer Spooler service. But after some period, the same problem can occur again.

P/S:  Windows Server 2003 Standard with SP1, Dynamics GP 10.0 with SP2, SQL server standard 2005 with SP4

Many thanks in advance.

I haven't seen winspool lines in dex.ini files around here.

My suggestion if not already tried, make a backup of your dex.ini file and try it out. Worst case, you role back to your old ini file and end of story.

     Hope it helps!

Yes, they are safe to delete. You can use Support Debugging Tool's Dex.ini Configuration feature to stop these pesky entries from poluting your DEX.INI file. More on Support Debbuging Tool here.

    Hi William

Have a look at this blog post

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/developingfordynamicsgp/archive/2010/06/28/why-making-the-dex-ini-file-read-only-is-evil.aspx

As mentioned by Mariano, the Support Debugging Tool can clean these up for you automatically.
