automated solutions copy company setup not working

I downloaded the "CopyCompany10 v2.msi" automated solution from Customersource but it is not working.  I downloaded it to the default directory on my GP application server.  When I launch it I get to the point of SQL Server ODBC window where you specify the data source and User Name and Password.  In the Data Source drop down I am not getting any list of my ODBC's and its just blank.  When I type in the ODBC that is used on the server or my server name and put in the passwords it give me the following error "The registery Server for this ODBC connection may be missing. Check Error Log".

I have looked for this error message in multiple places to no avail.  I am suprised these solutions come with zero instructions on how to install them or common error messages.  I am running this on Windows Serveer 2008 R2 and its 64bit  Not sure if this is an issue with the 64bit like it is when you install GP and need a 32bit ODBC.

Also, do these automated solutions need to be run on the application server or can they be run on terminal servers?  Please help.  Thanks

    Ryan,

The automated solution code isn't checking for 32/64 bit and runs natively as 64 bit.  That means you'd need to create a 64bit DSN in order to run this.

Because the app will also create the connection string using the password you enter, you will need to use either sa or Windows Authorization (assuming your windows user has the SQL permissions necessary).

You should be able to run the automated solution wherever you like but as there will be a fair amount of data transferred during this process you might want to run it on the SQL Server.

I had the same problem.  Given that the CompanySetup10.exe file is installed to Program Files (x86), I believe it needs the 32bit DSN to work.

Here are the steps I used to resolve the problem:

    1) Open Control Panel

    2) Search for ODBC

    3) Click "Set up data sources (ODBC)"

    4) Select System DSN tab, click Add

    5) Select SQL Server - file SQLSRV32.DLL

    6) Click Finish

    7) Give the data source a name, description, and the name of your SQL Server

    8) Proceed through the Wizard to finish setting up the DSN.

Note: if I used the SQL Native Client 10.0 in Step 4 above, which I believe is the 64bit DNS, it would show up in the Data Source dropdown list in CompanySetup10.exe, but gave the same error message.
