Hi all,

I have a requirement in that we a field(amount in words). I need to split the same field value to multiple text boxes(more than 2 text boxes).

I used LEFT function and IIF function in expressions by specifying number of characters, it is splitting but it is breaking the words in some cases.

For example, if word FIVE is there then in the first textbox it is ending with FIV and in the second textbox it is starting with E.

NOTE: I'm using D365FO

Please help me to solve this.

Thanks and regards,

srihari.

How do you determine the number of boxes? Is it static? Why can't you keep it in a single text box?

Wouldn't it be easier to split the value already in the RDP class?

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for your reply,

It is cheque and it has 3 static lines for amount in words.

Can you please give example of splitting in RDP class.

    Thanks and regards

    srihari.

Can't you simply add line breaks to the text and use a single multiline text box?

I'm sorry, but I can't give you an example until you tell me how you want to split the string. We need to understand what the code should do before we can write it.

i'm not aware of this, can you please give any reference for understanding.

There are 3 lines for amounts in words,
    line1 is having 5cm textbox, line2 has 7cm textbox, line3 has 7cm textbox.
There is 0.5cm space between each line and the text should not go out of any textbox.
If amount is entered in billion it occupies all the 3 lines.
I tried LineHeight property for single textbox but while printing it is not working.

If you want to see an example of a multiline text box, look at SalesInvoice.Report. There is a field (called texbox237) which holds an invoice address. Because the address can have multiple lines, the box is made high enough to accommodate them.

By the way, a good idea when developing your own reports is using descriptive field names (you can then use Document Outline to navigate the report design) and use placeholders instead of mere «Expr». It makes the design much eaiser to understand. It's a pity that Microsoft didn't do it in standard reports.

I got this one but it is not helpful in my case.

At the same time can you please give an example for splitting the text at RDP class.

    Thanks and regards

    srihari
