Inventory KIT

Posted on by 120

Someone turned one of our stock item sku's into a Kit accidentally and of course PO and SO transactions have occured after the change so the system will not allow us to delete via the "Kit" screen.

In database research it appears the inventory table has a kit flag field that is set as a 0 or a 1 to determine if an item is a KIT or not adtionally a record is created in the kit table that has a kitid matching the invtid value in the inventory table.

Consequently if components are added to a KIT then additional related records get created in the components table. For this partiular item no components have ever been assigned nor has it been used in an assembly plan.

Is anyone aware of issues if I delete the kit table record for this particular item and then set the KIT flag back to 0 in the inventory table turing this sku back into a normal stocked item.

Let me know.

Steve

    Another workaround would be to create a new item and make it the only item in the "kit".  The new item would have all the details that the real non-kitted item would have had.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks you posting to the OTC.

    Scope

    ======I understand that you are wondering if there are any issues with changing the kit flag in SQL back to 0 and deleting the kit table record.

    Assessment

    ===========

    In general, I cannot see that there would be any issues if this item is truly not a kit item, however, we

    do not know what changing the  item in this manner would actually do to all of the tables. If you make

    this change using SQL and you do not see the desired results, you will likely need to change this item to

    inactive and create a new inventory item.

    Plan: NEXT STEPS

    ==============

    1) Make change with SQL

    or

    2) Change item to inactive and create a new inventory item.

    Let me know if you have any questions.
