Importing JE to Dynamics GP

Posted on by 100

Hi,

I am looking at integrating another system with Dynamics GP 10.0 and it will create a file with JE which we will integrate/import into Dynamics GP.  We need to confirm how many entries/rows or the maximum file size that can be imported.

I know that there is not limit to the number of accounts that can be distributed to in a payables or receivables entry, but this I assume in manually inputted (source was the knowledge base).

As well, knowlege base the manximum of entries that can be entered into a translation table within integration manager is 2063 if they are typed and then another article that stipulated that "The maximum number of rows that can be paste to a translation are 16384 for the two columns".

I am very knew to the dgp support role and am unsure of the terminology - could someone clarify for me what the actual size of files (containing journal entries) can be integrated into Dynamics GP?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much - this helps a lot.  We would be using integration manager.

There is effectively no limit to the number of rows in GL entry. Each row gets a number that increases by 16384 leaving room to add rows between lines via the interface. That's not an issue in an integration. The translation table used in Integration Manager is only used to transform data from one form to another. For example, if "black" in the source DB is going to be "Dark" in GP, a translation table would handle that but that is only one entry for the translation, not for each line. Additionally, the data can be translated prior to bringing it in to integration manager if necessary.

The bigger questions are how many rows do you want to bring in to a single journal entry? The more rows there are the more cumbersome research becomes. It doesn't what system is being used.

For integration manager, especially with the econnect/sql adapter, there is effectively no limit. When using the original adapter, the only limit is time. Integrations are significantly slower.
