I have a requirement where a lead should be able to have multiple opportunities , have one single lead for an account and have multiple opportunities for it . Is there an effective approach to do this ? TIA

It mostly depends on what you want to happen at each of the main status changes, when you identify that there are multiple possible opportunities, and what your reporting requirements are

My starting approach would normally be that you have one lead, that will be qualified to one account. Once the lead is qualified, then additional opportunities can be created for the account. If you do this, you stick to the most common way to use the sales entities. This does leave a consideration on whether you need to link the additional opportunities to the original lead; this can be important if your reporting links the opportunities back to the lead and/or campaign. This wouldn't happen automatically (though you could create a workflow to do this), though users could manually set this relationship. However, then there's the decision of whether all future opportunities for the account should be linked to the originating lead, and this is mostly a business decision

You would need to implement your custom logic to this.

When a lead is qualified, you can create multiple opportunities from a workflow or plugin code.

On the Opportunity entity, there is an 'originating lead' field, which you can use to track which all Opportunities from, say, Lead ABC.

Similarly, on the Lead, there is a 'Qualifying Opportunity' field. Do ensure that this field is cleared out when you qualify the Lead, as in your case, there will be multiple Opportunities linked to a Lead. So there is no point in having this field.

Let me know if you need any more details.

    Cheers!
