PDK Users and Removing the Employee

We have a situation where we have a client that has 120 licenses for their Business Portal and PDK users.  They have over the years hired and retired a number of staff and are now just finding out that the users are not being removed from PDK license count.

When we go into the system - PDK Application - to remove a user ID we get the SQL failed to Remove user, contact System Admin.

I am the System Admin - connected to PDK as SA - connected to SQL Server as SA - logged onto the SQL Server machine as Administrator.

We have removed the user from the Active Directory but can not remove them from PDK.

Currently the user license shows 0 available and we urgently need to resolve this.

While we do not use Business Portal or PDK, I have seen an issue simular to this trying to remove a Dynamics GP User. Like you they had been in the system for a long time and we had upgraded the databases several times so I am not sure at what point it happened but here is what I did to fix the problem. Also, there are several options to fix the problem but I would try with this one first.

Using SQL Studio Management go into each database (Dynamics and all Company databases) under Security - check Roles and Schemas, check to see if there is a Role or Schema named after the specific user that you wish to delete. If one is found delete it. After that you should be able to remove the user without any problems.

Let me know how it goes,

While I have seen this error in the past in GP users in the past, the solution noted above is the only way that I have been able to remove GP users.  However, when I apply this to PDK / Business Portal the number of user licenses does not change or adjust.

Secondly the user id in PDK is not removed correctly and I would like to know where the PDK / Business Portal User names / ID and passwords are stored in the GP database.  I believe that somewhere that table is damaged and it needs to be repaired.

Anyone know where this information is stored?

Anyone know where the license count is updated?

Hi everyone, still looking for some assistance here.  The problem now is getting to be one where we are having to hold up users of the system as we can not get more users added.

When we remove a user it does not remove from SQL - what tables hold the PDK users and what table do we need to fix to stop the SQL remove user error.

    Help really needed.

    Hey Bill,

I have posted a T-SQL script that may help you locate the table that holds the users. HOWEVER I DO NOT RECOMEND UPDATING OR DELETING ANYTHING FROM AN APPLICATION DATABASE. You should make changes via the Application not in SQL Studio Manager. Hopefully, this information will assist you in finding out what needs to be fixed to get your problem solved.
