Excel Template Error upon open

I'm working to create a report for some users utilizing the excel template export. I've created the template, and the reports are running, yet every time I, or other users, run the report and open it the first time, we get the following errors.

First before opening:

2018_2D00_04_2D00_18_5F00_15_2D00_32_2D00_48.png

And then upon clicking the "allow editing button" to refresh the pivot tables:

2018_2D00_04_2D00_19_5F00_14_2D00_32_2D00_54.png

Suggestions I've already followed include: repairing my office installation, downloading the office compatibility pack, open in excel online (doesn't work well because of the same error)

Any idea what could be causing this error? The report does run correctly, but the errors are frustrating for users.

Edit to add: The error does not happen on System views, only custom views.

    Hi Toni,

Could you please  try to create another  simple report and export as excel. I am pretty much sure this should not be happened for all report in Dynamics CRM. Try to analyse which cell basically causing the problem. Seems can not do anything as this is due to data  format.

As an alternate you can refer below reference to  open the report -

    Hi Toni G,

Please try this if it helps.

    Open Excel

    Go to File > Options.

Go to Trust Center > Trust center settings.

Click Protected view. Then clear the check boxes for the first two options.

Click OK and then close the Options dialog box.

Needless to say that this Excel setting will not be for specific CRM files and you may have to be careful with external/unverified sources.

I ended up resolving the issue, and wanted to list out how, in case anyone finds this via search.

I had added some calculated columns to the raw data sheet for my pivot tables. The column was at the end of the CRM data, and was not formatted in the same manner (basic excel formatting) Once I moved this column inside the CRM data, it formatted to match with the blue and white lines and correct header. Once I did this the error stopped reporting.

Lesson: If you add columns to your table, make sure to do it within the table to maintain the formatting.
