Download attachments of multiple PO

Hello all,

Today I got one requirement and I'm not sure if that's possible or not.

According to the requirement, user wants to download attachments of multiple POs at the same time. Currently, as per the system, it only allows us to download attachments of single PO at a time.

So, is it possible to customise it and allow user to download attachments from multiple POs?

Thanks and regards,

Bhagyashree Dave

Yes, it's possible, but it needs a more details specification than this one. For example, it's not clear how the user would select purchase orders and the attachements to download. Also, you need to think how to download multiple files at once. For example, you could add all files to a single ZIP archive.

Also, consider exporting attachments through a data entity.

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

So, the user wants to select all the purchase orders and wants to download attachments.

As shown in below image, currently the system shows total count of attachments for the last selected PO only. But we need sum of all the attachments of all the selected POs.

So to achieve the requirement, can we show the sum of all the attachments in the standard button, or we need to create our own customized button? If we use standard button, will it show all the attachments in the attachment form? Which standard table is used to store the attachments(from where I can get it)?

    What should be my approach?

    Thanks and regards,

I'm not sure what you changed the topic from file download to displaying a sum, but anyway...

I'm sorry, I know how to sum numbers, but I don't understand what you mean by a sum of text notes, attached PDF files and such things. I can't imagine how you can sum them. Please explain the business scenario to us.

Information about attachment is store in the DocuRef table. You can easily find this information by yourself by examining the form that displays document attachments. This is an important skill - learn it if you don't know how to do it (feel free to ask if needed). Note that the actual files aren't stored there - they're typically stored outside of F&O, in Azure storage or on SharePoint.

    Hi Martin,

What I want is, when user selects multiple POs, he can see the total attachments of those POs and then download them altogether. User doesn't want to download attachments one by one or PO by PO.

    Thanks and regards,

That what I discussed in my first reply, before you started talking about a button showing a sum.

You answered one question - how orders should be selected.

Then consider which attachments you want to download. I guess you want to download all attachments that represents files, and ignore text notes, links and such things. But maybe you want something else. For example, you could create text files from text notes, or maybe you want just attachment of a particular type, or just files with a particular file extension.

When you know what you want to download, I suggest creating a ZIP archive with all the files and giving this archive to the user for download.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for your replies and suggestions.

I wrote one code to create zip file and download attachments in it. It works fine for one PO. But when I select multiple POs, it only downloads last PO's attachments. But in the debug, code runs perfectly.

For this particular issue, I have raised another question. If you know the answer to it, please suggest.

    Thanks again.
