Prevent approver of a batch from editing it

Is there a way to provide access to batches to an user to approve them without the ability to make changes to the batch.

    Well, you could apply field level security if you have this module.  If you are using version 2013 I believe it is included in your license.

    Tried Field Level Security on Fabrikam.  Worked like a charm.  We'll get the license to apply to live company.
