Amend Lot Expiration date on drop shipment

Hello,
is there a way to amend the expiration date on a drop shipment as my attempts so far have not worked? I have tried an item journal but get a message that as we use advanced warehousing a warehouse reclass journal is needed instead but then the new expiration date field is in accessible to the journal.
