Budget Across Legal entitites

Hello,
I am trying to create a budget to allocate across all the legal entities of my company. I have been trying with ledger allocation rules and budgeting planning process with an organization hierarchy that includes all the legal entities but none have worked so far. Any idea on how to set this up?

OOB the budget is not an object cross legal entity.

You can try to see if you can change it from legal entity to cross share using this function: https://daxmsdynamics365.wordpress.com/2025/08/20/configure-cross-company-data-sharing

In standard D365 Finance, budget planning and ledger allocation rules are legal entity specific and do not natively support cross-company allocations. To allocate budgets across multiple legal entities, you’ll need to use a combination of budget planning templates, organization hierarchies, and possibly custom processes or third-party tools.

Understanding the Limitation

Ledger allocation rules are designed to distribute posted ledger balances within a single legal entity. They cannot allocate across legal entities by default.

Budget planning also operates within the scope of a single legal entity. Even if your organization hierarchy includes multiple legal entities, budget plans are still created and processed per entity.

As mentioned above, the budgets are per legal entity. You can use other tools or Excel for managing and allocating across different legal entities. Then maintain the budgets per legal entity. For reporting, you can create cross company reports using the Financial Reporter, Power BI, or BPA.
