Hi,
I have a requirement to add a count of case records as a large number in a normal dashboard (similar to cards in an interactive dashboard).
We are using Dynamics 2016 on-premise. I'm thinking we could do this via a webresource and JQuery but am hoping there is simpler way of implementing. Does anyone have any ideas as to the best way this could be achieved?
Many thanks

Hi,
Do you have any examples of using REST in a dashboard web resource. I can only find examples of using it in a form and being able to include web resources via the form library. Having multiple issues adding the SDK.REST.js file directly in an HTML web resource
perfect, thank you!
Hi,
you don't need to go for plugin, since you can get the records count using JS methods using Web API or REST.
help links,
Web API, docs.microsoft.com/.../retrievemultiplerecords
REST, arunpotti.wordpress.com/.../restretrievemultipleexample
Thanks for the reply guys.
Our Dynamics partner has a monopoly on plugins and don't want to go via them on this instance. Is the only way to achieve this via JQuery calling a Plugin or can I do it without having to write a plugin seeing as we are on premise?
Hey ,
As suggested by Sreevalli Balleda you can use html page (with the help of JS inside it) to show count of cases inside dashboards.
Adding html web resource is much easier process in iframe.
Hi,
No other best way, just create a HTML page with Case icon and number of cases count as per your retrieval result.
The quickest way is exactly how you describe it - to use a webresource iframe and Javascript to query the values.
If you a happy to spend money on an ISV solution Dan Hesketh offers one that will achieve everything you want and far far more miiia.com.au/.../d365-tiles
