MR not displaying correctly with High DPI monitor

I have a user with a situation where MR Designer and MR Viewer do not display correctly due to a High DPI display on their laptop.

The issue originally impacted GP, but we solved it using this article (thank you, Christina Phillips!):  https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/gpdynland/archive/2016/09/29/fix-dynamics-gp-scaling-and-font-size-issues-on-high-dpi-displays

However, once we imported the registry setting from the article and saved the Dynamics.exe.manifest file, while it solved the issue in GP, MR now shows up very blurry.

Here is what I've tried so far:

  • Right click on the MR icon and click Properties.  On the Compatibility tab, select Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings and then click OK.
    • RESULT:  Fonts and images in MR are overly large making in unusable
  • Changed dpi scaling settings to make things smaller
    • RESULT:  No change in MR
  • Create manifest files for MR Viewer and Designer
    • RESULT:  No impact, still scaling issues
  • Disable Display Scaling with manifest files in place
    • RESULT:  Back to blurry

Version information:

Windows:  10

GP:  2015 R2

MR Designer & Viewer:  2.12.15000.56

Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, he did try adjusting the zoom and said he got no results.

Did you users try to use the display zoon settings in Win10 ? I do have a system where the settings have been changed from 100% to 125% (Windows 2012) and I can tell you that Report Designer does adjust all the content to reflect that zoom factor, like a normal windows application would (with exception of few like Dynamics GP).  I do not have MR 2012 currently installed on my local W10 laptop, so I can't test this one right away.

    I've been told "something like 3440 x 1440."

    HI Valerie,

What is the native resolution of their laptop ? MR 2012 Designer & Viewer are modern apps.. (based on .NET 4.x) in contrast to Dynamics GP, they should support the display settings from Windows 10..
