Selling Fixed Assets with Components

Hi All!

So we are currently selling a fixed asset, where some of the components are included in the price.

Selling a single fixed asset is straight forward and is done directly through a Sales Invoice, but how should this be done when you are selling a Fixed Asset including all of it's components (also fixed assets).
What is the best way / best practice to sell / dispose of all these fixed assets?
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

When selling a fixed asset along with its components in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, follow a structured process to ensure accurate accounting and compliance.

    • First, prepare the fixed assets by ensuring they are properly recorded and depreciation is up-to-date.
    • Then, create a disposal journal entry in the Fixed Asset Journal, entering the disposal date and amount.
    • Post the disposal entry to record the sale and calculate any gain or loss.
    • Dispose of each component separately by creating individual disposal entries, ensuring the total disposal amount reflects the combined sale price.
    • Finally, review and reconcile the fixed asset ledger, and generate reports to provide an overview of the disposals and their impact on financial statements.

    Hi,

After posting the disposal entries and calculating the gain or loss, you’ll need to update the unit price on the sales order line to match the fixed assets. Regarding the components, if they are listed together, it means you are selling the fixed asset as a single unit. However, if the components are listed separately as fixed assets, you should follow the standard process.

    Thanks
    Ramesh

Hello, As per my knowledge, To sell a fixed asset along with its components in Business Central, you should process the sale through a Sales Invoice, adding both the main asset and its components as separate lines, ensuring they have the correct Fixed Asset Posting Group. Once posted, Business Central will generate the necessary ledger entries. After that, navigate to the Fixed Asset Journal or Fixed Asset G/L Journal to record the disposal by selecting the Disposal Account Type and posting the entries. After that review the Fixed Asset Ledger Entries to verify that the sale and disposal are correctly recorded.

    Hope this help you!
