Deploying Reporting Services to a subfolder

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I would like to deploy the GP 2010 R2 reports to a subfolder in my Reporting Services site, but I do not know what URL to use in GP on the Reporting Tools Setup window.  I use the site for other reports and would like to keep it clean and organized.  The help files say to use these URLs:

http://server-name/reportserver
http://server-name/reports

What if I create a folder at the root of the site called "GP", then what should the URLs look like on that GP window?

I know that could just deploy them to the root and then move them, but then things like the GP metrics break because they are linked back to the reports.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Jeff

I installed a second instance of SSRS on our Report Server.  Using DNS, my users see:

http://rptserver/reports     (with all in-house developed reports in departmental folders)

http://gpreports/reports    ("the dump", aptly named by Susan)

1 server that looks like 2.  This works well for me.

We tried to do the same thing with absolutely no success, You have to have all those databases and the multi-company etc folders at the root.  The only thing we could do to clean it all up was hide them.  Our SSRS DB is not happy at all with how they deploy, same thing when you deploy Business Portal and same thing when you deploy SharePoint.  Great Plains seems to think that every one is going to be so happy to have these and not care that they make SSRS look like a garbage dump.  Especially when you have other departments using SSRS who already have a folder and subfolders.

Would like to see if anyone has any other suggestions, because so far nothing else worked.  I put it out on connect as a product change and so far 5 people have voted on it to get this changed.

The only feedback I got from Microsoft was that they would consider this for a future release.
