Transaction Import of GL Allocation methods

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Need to use Transaction Import to set up GL Allocation methods because of the number of them.  As part of the import, I need to have the Use Basis Accounts box checked.  The control macro has it as disabled out of the box.  I have tried modifying the control file without any luck.  Has anyone been able to do this successfully?

I figured what the issue was. It would not allow me to import more than one line into the destination using Update After Successful Edit.  It would import the first  line and give errors for the remaining destination lines.  Minimized setting did not matter.  Finally, figured out it would import using Combined Update and Edit, but only after I went and looked in Allocation Group Maintenance screen itself.  Because if you go by the log file, it still gives you an error for all the basis subaccounts after the first one.

Have you tried running it minimized?  Sometimes that can make a difference.

You could possibly run a trace while importing just a single line in the destination .

    My destination values are:

cpnyid, acct, sub, cpnyid, acct, sub

    Your data  looks like:

cpnyid, acct, sub, ??,sub, ??, cpny

    Carolyn,

Thank you.  Just tried this and it worked perfectly.

Now if I can figure out why I am getting an error in field basissub in the destination section.

I am also using uncustomized screen.  Have them in the order the intelligent macro shows.  All accounts and subaccounts are active.  And watching it unminimized mode, looks like all the fields are filling in just fine.  Tried typing them in and it works.  Do have more than one destination line and all are giving the same error.  Any thoughts?

    Hi Joann,

I am using an Intelligent control macro on an uncustomized screen.  I entered this line of code after import field 10 which is cPoolSequence.

    serr = SetObjectValue( "cusebasisacct", ImportField(11) )

This is my level0 line in my data file.

    Level0,TEST,test for forum,,,,AY,,,,,1,,

I ran with the Run Minimized box unchecked and I can see that the Use Basis Accounts checkbox becomes enabled and is checked by the import.

Let me know if you have additional questions.
