Enterprise Portal and SharePoint Database

Hi Experts!

Good Day!

I just want to know if what are the database used by Enterprise Portal? Also what do I need to backup on the database below for the sharepoint and EP db's.

In addition is it OK if I put the SharePoint and EP database on the same box with AX database server?

    The Enterprise Portal content is sitting in files on where your IIS instance is hosted, and within a Site deployment on the SharePoint DB. The rule of thumb for backups is quite simple: back up everything regularly.

    That means you should be backing up your IIS folder and all SharePoint databases.

    If you have virtual environments, most virtualisation hosts allow taking snapshots, that is more convenient than backing up files.

    We are using SharePoint Foundation is it OK that we put the database in AX database server? Will it affect to the performance of AX?

    It depends on how your SQL Server hardware was sized, and how many separate I/O controller channels can you use for the additional disks required for setting up the SharePoint DBs. The best practice is that you must not place any additional databases next to the AX data and log files (which should be on their separate disks/controllers too).

    No idea, check the System requirements guide maybe for AX.

    Hi Vilmos,

    Good Day!

    Just want to have some queries if you have an idea in the encountered error when I am creating a new web application and site collection using different port aside from port 80.

    I tried to create a new enterprise portal with a new port (I use port 8800). I successfully create a new web application but I can't create a new site collection. Below is the error.

    The Web site rhi-axepdev/.../DynamicsAXEP was not created correctly.

    Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
