Negative on-hand stock

Hi All,

We have an item in AX that currently has negative on-hand stock although negative stock is not allowed :-) We had this problem before and did a stock adjustment to 0 on-hand but it's negative again. It's a component and looks like the stock goes negative when we RAF goods containing this item.

This item is assigned to a stock model group that doesn't allow physical negative stock. But if I change this item's stock model group to one that allows physical negative stock and try to change it back to previous one I am not able. Error message says that there is negative on-hand stock and the group cannot be changed.

Any idea what is wrong?

    Hi PrzemekG

Is your question 'Why does my item have negative inventory, even though the stock model group says it can't?', or are you interested in the error on changing the model group?

By the way, on the Item's Dimension group setup, is 'Physical stock' ticked on every Storage dimension which is also 'Active'?

    Hi,

I want to know why it is going negative although stock model group is not allowing this.

Your second question - if 'Physical stock' = 'On-hand' in Dimension group setup then answer is: Yes, it's checked on all active dimensions.

Overall the stock should not be negative as you do not allow it, but as Guy says the control is also on the physical stock in the item dimensions group, so as an example if this was NOT ticked on location and you had 10 of an item in Location A and 0 in Location B and sold 10 from location B you would have 0 overall but 10 in Location A and -10 in Location B - stock is not negative, but it is at a dimension level as you configured the system to allow this.

Show us a screen shot of the negative on hand position with all dimensions shown please!

I assume when you post RaF of the finished item, AX is automatically posting consumption? There is a 'Pick negative' tick box on the Picking List Journal, but I believe this does honour the 'Physical negative stock' setting on the Stock Model Group.

I do not know of a way to have physical negative stock as of today if the settings on the Stock Model Group and Dimension Group do not allow it. It is possible to make it appear that there was physical negative stock at some time in the past*, but this does not allow you to have negative stock as of today. Sorry!

    * to do this, you could receive an item on the 10th Dec, and post an issue on the 11th Dec with a date of the 1st Dec.

Every active dimension was ticked in 'On-hand' checkbox.

It's not possible to show a screen shot of the negative on-hand as store guys transfer goods on a regular basis and now the on-hand stock is positive.

I just want to add that our AX has inventory II module.

Inventory II is pretty important in this. I would suggest you log it with them, you are not dealing with standard AX when you overlay that. Only had one experience of it and it was not the best of experiences. I cannot say it is down to the MDIS Inventory II but that is where I would start!

Please confirm if a RAF enabled product that is posted fron Dales Order must jave enabled for Negative Inventories within item model group?

Because we are facing an error while posting Retail Statement for such RAF enabled Finished Goods that do not have any inventory except the one that is created run-time or on-the-fly while Sales Order is invoiced.

We are facing an error that states "1.00 cannot be picked because only 0.00 is/are available from the inventory."

Do you think, Negative inventory checkbox must be allowed for FGs having RAF enabled?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hello Dynamics,

This is an old thread but just to set your correct understanding. No it is necessary to tick "negative inventory" on item model group to process RAF from production module because when we do RAF,  FG inventory account got DEBITED and

WIP Production Reported as finished CREDITED.

Can you please elaborate futher what do you mean by Retail statement for RAF enabled FG?
