Fixing CRM 4.0 Outlook add-in could not be initialized correctly Error on Rollup 21

I wonder if anyone else out there has seen the below error coming from CRM 4.0 Client for Outlook? As we had upgraded one of our sales group CRM servers to Rollup 21 and as such updated all of the clients in the process. But so far one user keeps having issues of the client crashing and thus in turn crashing Outlook. So far the only thing I have found is the below error listed in Event Viewer.

So far I have tired re-applying the update, completely removing the client from the machine and clearing out the folders and registry and re-installing but the issue persists with the above error. Short of completely blowing Office off the machine and doing another full re-install which I think will do little to help with this problem. I have tired researching the problem online but have found vague reference with nothing that seems tangible to my problem.

Hi - Were you able to fix this problem? I am facing this since 1 year now and have no clue what to do next. Tried Update Roll Up 21 and every thing listed below , nothing helped me.

    1.     Did power plan setting , support.microsoft.com/.../en-us as per this link.

    2.    Set  maximum connections registry keys for Internet Explorer using link support.microsoft.com/.../282402

    3.       Installed Update Roll Up 21 for Outlook client.

    4.     Every thing is under trusted site

Let me know if you were able to fix it?

    Thanks

    Hello Richa,

Been some time since I dealt with that issue. If I recall correctly in the end I just broke down and switched that single user to another machine that was cleanly imaged. Since it was just that single person who had that issue and no one else did. Which obviously fixed the issue since it was a fresh clean machine.

Also some other things to keep in mind that I discovered dealing with the CRM 4.0 Client. Is if you are dealing with Windows 7 users do the installation as the account that will be using the client. So granting local admin rights to that user temporarily for the install. Then removing local admin once you’re finished the install of the client. As users would run into random problems where the client would disable it’s self in outlook for no reason when installed as a different account. Likely a result of how Windows 7 works with programs vs Windows XP and later when CRM 4.0 was originally programed for.

    Hello,

This issue could be because of the user profile that might have got corrupted.

Create a new test profile for the user in outlook and see if the outlook is getting crashed if CRM 4.0 client for outlook is enabled.

If the above plan did not work then please make sure the outlook is up to date.

Let me know if it helped.

    Thank You !
