What would cause the regarding field to be not available when creating a workflow to link back to the record?
Hi Pradeep, That checkbox was already checked but Naveen's suggestion worked. I had to go into customization in classic view and click on entity to get those additional options and Activities was not checked. I am nore sure where that option is in new model driven UI.

Please enable below property on your custom entity:
I tried creating one custom entity and observed when above highlighted properties is off or not checked then regarding field will remain blank.
Once we checked the above highlighted field then regarding field is populating properly.
