Hi Friends, I have a one challenge on Integration (D 365 finance and operation).

Actually we have third party application (having sales order that will be stored in Oracle DB), but I want to fetch to my D 365 F&O (via integration).

means third party app having oracle DB but currently I am having SQL DB (D 365),

My concern is how to do the Integration on D 365 F&O.

Note: I heard through ODBC connection, logics apps etc.. but I need to know the correct approach how to implement.

Please suggest me, how to implement (Road way) ?

Regards,

Vinilkumar.

You have to think about many things before you can design a solutiion. For example:

    • Which system(s) do you want to read data from and where do you want to write it?
    • When will it happen? For example: on schedule, as quickly as possible, on a particular event?
    • How much data will you transfer?
    • How many tables and fields do you need to transfer?
    • Does the other system have some integration features, or do you must work directly with the Oracle DB?
    • Is it accessible from internet? Or can you set up a proxy?
    • What are your requirements regarding relliability? What should happen if one of the systems is down?

    Thanks martin,

1.) I want to get the data from .net (having sales order that will be stored in Oracle DB) means they having database as Oracle.

2.) I want to create a batch schedule, based on that will be fetching the data to D 365 F&O.

    3.) Will be huge data.

    4.) having around 5 -7 tables.

5.) I am not sure from their side, but from my side I need to get the data directly form the oracle DB.

    6.) I should check, I guess it's offline.

7.) this is the ways I need to analyze, so that I am looking for the right way and for Analyzing I need to know the over all flow.

    Regards,

    Vinilkumar.

    1. Forget implementation details (such as .NET framework) for a moment - focus on the requirements and choose a technical solution to meet these requirements. Are you saying that you want to read data from Oracle DB and write it to F&O? Never writing anything to Oracle?

2, 3. If you want a lot of data, processed in an synchronous matter and not very often, it seems that data management APIs are the way to get data into F&O.

    5. Why do you have such a requirement? Or you just chose this solution before checking your other options?

As of my knowledge like this kind of requirement, need to create a ODBC connection and create a data entities through data entities we can integrate to D 365 F&O (via OData etc..).

I need to know the overall process, for analyzing the process.

    Vinilkumar.

No, you're not right in thinking that this is your only option, that it's suitable in your case and that it can be used regardless of answers to the questions above.

For example, if you want to make an ODBC connection from Azure but connections to the DB from ouside aren't allowed, it simply wouldn't work.

Also, your idea of using OData would be much worse from performance point-of-view than my suggestion of using data management APIs. And because you said there would be a huge amount of data, you shouldn't ignore performance characteristics.
