How to automatically log off idle users in GP 2010 ?

Hi,

We recently upgraded to GP 2010 from GP9 in our company (Retail Business).

We do have 60 licensee to use GP 2010 at a particular time.

We facing a problem almost everyday that our users don't log out even if they are not using GP 2010.

Due to this, other users can't log in GP( as we have only 60 licensee)...

So, I want to know if there is a way that GP 2010 will automatically log off idle users ???

Regards,

Sushant

Have a look at Rockton Software's GP Toolbox.  It includes an auto-logout feature.

Are you serious?! 200 bucks a head for that software, just to do what GP should do itself?

Are you sure there is no other way to automatically log out users?

Take a look into the below article in my blog, the script posted will help in your request:

Yes I've hit the same problem, we are small company with 70 users, that's 14k to logout idle users.

I'm now looking at a combination of the script mohdaoud.blogspot.com/.../script-to-get-users-logged-in-to-gp_2325.html and checking for locked objects to determine if its "safe" to logout none admin users after an hour of inactivity via a SQL server job.

    Hi Sushant,

I too had similar issues but in GP10. I run the following script on DYNAMICS and kill the user session. I hope it may help you....

    SELECT     USERID, LOGINDAT, LOGINTIM

    FROM         ACTIVITY

    GROUP BY USERID, LOGINDAT, LOGINTIM

    HAVING      (USERID NOT IN

(SELECT     TOP (100) PERCENT loginame AS LoginName

                                FROM         sys.sysprocesses

                                WHERE     (dbid > 0)

                                GROUP BY dbid, loginame

                                HAVING      (DB_NAME(dbid) = 'dbname')

                                ORDER BY LoginName, DB_NAME(dbid)))

    ORDER BY LOGINDAT

--DELETE FROM DYNAMICS..ACTIVITY WHERE USERID = 'userid'
