Low Level BOM Items not included in Planning Worksheet

Posted on by 30

Hello All,

I am facing issues with Planning Worksheet not being able to generate a demand for Low Level BOM Items.

Currently Planning Worksheet is only generating PO for the assembly/finished item and not generating demand for items which are at Level 1,2,3... (Low Level Items)

I have attached a screenshot of Planning Worksheet & Manufacturing Setup

    Hi Aman,

I am also trying to do the same. But as per your screenshot, you have put a filter for the master finished good item. If you put a filter on the calculate planning worksheet window, as per my knowledge it only considers the filters item (even though it has sub-assemblies).

Let me know if you find a method.

RE: Low Level BOM Items not included in Planning Worksheet

    Hi Robert

Thank you for taking the time to answer my query.

I do have a reordering policy (L4L) under planning parameters (screenshot attached),

I also have a replenishment system (screenshot attached) &

The low level item nos are assigned to the assembly BOM

Let me know if I am going wrong at any point.

RE: Low Level BOM Items not included in Planning Worksheet

    Let's imagine a 3 level BOM

    Item A101 - FG assembly

Item B202 - Sub Assembly with purchased items

       Item C300 - A purchased Item

For you to generate a planned purchase order for Item C300 then all three Items (A101, B202 and C300) need to have a replenishment system (eg B202 would be production order) and a Reordering Policy (eg: B202 might be Lot for Lot)

If B202 has no reordering policy OR has the wrong replenishment system you won't end up proceeding all the way to C300.

Also the BOM need to be assigned to the item(s) that have a BOM.

The best thing to do is open A101 in items and look at Bills of Material|Cost Shares which will show the multi-level exploded BOM.  If you don't see B202 or C300 on that list, then the BOM might be missing or the replenisment system isn't setup correctly.

    Does that make sense?
