Hello
Is there any ability to add a computed field on Analysis mode in BC. On many occasions, I might want to create a formula based on the existing columns. Is this possible yet in BC?

I have the same question (0)

You can't use formulas between columns at this point. You can just use basic pivot functions on some fields for row grouping (Max, Average, Count, Sum etc.)

I think its a good idea though. You can always submit ideas to Microsoft here: Categories

In analysis mode, Cross-column formulas aren't supported. You can use basic pivot aggregation (Sum, Min, Max, Average, and Count) for row grouping.

    Hi,
no, analysis mode itself does not let you add a calculated column on the fly, it only works with the dimensions and flow fields you already have set up. For this kind of thing account schedules is still the way to go in BC, you can build formula columns there referencing other columns. If it's item or inventory analysis rather than G/L, that one doesn't have an equivalent formula layer, so people usually export to Excel or Power BI for the extra calc. I've seen a few requests for computed columns directly in analysis view but nothing shipped so far, Microsoft keeps steering that use case toward Power BI. What are you analyzing, G/L or item ledger? That changes which route makes sense.

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.

To my knowledge, this is not currently possible in the standard BC. You might want to submit this as a feature request to Microsoft.
Missing a feature? Post or vote for ideas on: aka.ms/BCIdeas

    Thanks.
