CRM Outlook app - appointments sync

Hello

we have a scenario whereby the client would be creating appointments manually in CRM after a meeting has already occurred.  When the appointment is created in CRM it populates this meeting to the Outlook calendar,  can this sync be stopped?   

in the new Outlook CRM app there is a message saying "the appointment will actually be sent to the attendees listed once it is saved").  Is there any way we can stop this happening,?
