We have some existing power BI report which is mapped to DynamicsAx DB of ax2012.

Now we want to use the same power BI report and its select statement query to AxDW data base of D365 F&O.

current power bi report contains very complex select statement query and same query we want implement using AxDw database of D365 F&O.

So my question is can we write the select statement query in power BI when we are use AxDW data base of D365 F&O as data source.

No, it's not going to work, because AxDW doesn't have the same schema as the actual AX database.

You may have more success with BYOD / Azure Data Lake, which are based on data entities and not (as AxDW) on aggregate measurements. But data entities are also not the same thing as AX tables, not mentioning that even the DB schema in F&O isn't always the same as in AX 2012.

In short, you can't just take your query for AX 2012 and use in F&O. You'll need to think about the architecture and then adjust your query (or use a completely different design).

I think that another thing is that you can't access AxDW database directly to perform queries. It is intended to be used with Power BI Embedded integration.

Thank you for your response.

We have already build few select statement in power bi mapping AxDw and we are getting the expected result also. Can we deploy this report in production or can we get access of AxDW.

We have written select statment at power bi and it working fine in cloud hosted environment like Dev,test and UAT.Please check the screen host for more details. My doubt is will this work in productions
