Dynamics 365 - Customer payment journal with tax code

Hi,

When I post a customer payment journal without linking an invoice and the offset account type is "Bank", should the system calculate a tax based on the tax code defined?

When the offset account is ledger, it shows. But when it is bank, it doesn't show.

Please help me understand is this a system limitation?

Regards,

D

    Hi Dwij,

If the account type or the offset account type is ledger, then sales tax can be used for postings. If you don't have the account type or offset account type as ledger, it will not be able to do any tax calculation.

    Hi Dwij,

In addition to Andre feedback, it is normal to use ledger account or customer error account when a payment does not have link to customer transactions (e.g. miscellaneous payments) while it is not normal to incur sales tax on payment journals and should be checked based on region tax regulations.
