Customer account already exist when creating a customer

I am getting an error /Customer account ##### already exist / when I create a new customer. The number sequence is set to continuos and the number which is throwing error is in the status list in free state.

Kindly help how to resolve this issue

Hi,

Why is the number sequence set to continuous? The continuous option is recommended to be used only for voucher and invoice numbers or when there is a regulatory requirement.

The error is stating that a customer with this number already exists. The free status indicates that the number is free to be (re)used. Used numbers should not be in the list. To get rid of the error, you can delete the record from the status list.

Hi,

May be your customer number sequence is set to "shared" It means that your number sequence is shared between different entities, please check it first and let me know if this helps or not.
