Hi there,

I'm pretty very new to the Dynamics 365 space.

I have a Dynamics 365 Finance and Operation module setup and I would like to retrieve some data in the entities.

Can I use excel to get the data?If yes how
Can I use power automate? If yes what connectors are available?

I have been given some app registration details e.g client secret/id etc..

But how do I use them?

Any suggested tool I can use to test the connection would be great

Thanks in Advance

I have the same question (0)

    1) Yes, you can Excel, e.g. by using Data management workspace to export data to an Excel file.

    2) Yes, you can use Power Automate. You can use the native F&O connector, or other APIs (namely data management APIs to export data to Excel, if that's your goal).

    Hi naijacoder,

In addition to the reply from Martin, you can also setup the data entities as virtual tables in Dataverse and then use the Dataverse connector.

Thanks Martin for you reply. It was really helpful

One other question is if i want to create connection(read only entities/tables) to Power BI what would be the best way to setup this connection and what do I need?

We are also thinking of connecting it to some other BI tools.

I can't seem to find any resource around integration etc..

    Thanks in advance

    Hi naijacoder,

You are now changing the topic of the original question. Please create new posts for new questions. Mixing up topic might be confusing for any other member on this forum.

When you want to use Power BI, then you should consider moving data to Azure Data Lake or BYOD first:

Export to Azure Data Lake overview - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

Bring your own database (BYOD) - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    Thanks for the reply.

Also I will create a new post if I have any other questions
