HRM - how to update /amend operating unit number in HRM/Common/departments/

Hi all,

we have a need to update /amend operating unit number in HRM/Common/departments/  becasue the departments have been setup wrong.

1. how can we update the departments

2. how can we check the relationships in the other functionalities

3. what is the best practise eventually to update the relationships (manually or using templates, data base activities etc).?

    If your intention is to update the Operation Unit number with a new value and make sure all of the references are updated with the change, try using the Rename function (right click > personalize > rename).

    Depending if you are using Department as a shared dimension in the Financial dimension setup, changing existing values could have an effect on GL related transactions.  Could affect a lot of data...

    I believe you meant (right click > record info).  This is where you can do the rename at.

    Since I replied to this old post, I figured I would go ahead and submit some more details for later searches.  I have found when you do the rename you have to have a record existing that you are renaming another record to.  Otherwise, find out the record id? that you want to rename the records to before you start.  It does take a while to complete when you start this.
