N:N relationship is not working when trying to personalize in email designer

Hi, I am trying to create an email allowing customers to update their current contact and subscription information. I want to show contacts their current settings by using personalized field, such as: first_name, last_name, E-mail, consent info etc. I ran into problems when trying to personalize subscription list (showing contacts which lists they are subscribers to). It says it is a many-to many relationship and therefore, not possible to do. In my opinion, this is strange. Am I doing something wrong, or is this kind of personalization (in emails) not possible to do or should I do it in another way?

Can anyone give some guidance,

Thanks

    Hi Hellen B,

Thanks for the description of issue.

We can map Dynamics 365 Marketing form submissions to custom tables with Power Automate flow, and then use a real-time workflow to send email to the contacts, use this way will realize the general idea in emails.

I'm afraid it is not available for us to set default text to something like: "Please update your E-mail address" if there are missing values in emails. However, we can add a link again and use Power Automat to check if the update information equals information we entered before and then update the information.

RE: N:N relationship is not working when trying to personalize in email designer

Hi Sayen, Thanks for the  replay!

I managed to create the segment, insert a personalized Subjectline, and to add personalized Firts_name, last_name, etc. But how can I display for the recipients which Subscription list they are a part of/are in ? It is here the segment comes in, I guess.  Is there a way to test how it looks  in the email before sending to the whole target group/sub list? I tried to send a proof to myself, but I guess that is not the same thing?

My general idea is something like this:

    Your current settings are:

    First Name - value

    Last Name - value

    E-mail - Value

Allow Bulk Email - Value Yes/No

Consent for storing my personal data - Value Yes/No

Consent for Marketing Communication - Value Yes/No

Is subscribed to: Subscription list 1

Then a submit button for confirming if the settings are correct.

If there are missing values, I want to set the default text to something like: "Please update your E-mail address" to encourage the recipients to press on another button: Update your preferences (with a link to subscription center).

    Best Regards,

    Hellen B

    Hi HellenB,

    Hope you are well.

I'm afraid that it is not available to personalize subscription list in email.

It is due to system design that a many-to many relationship not possible to be selected in email.

However, we can create a dynamics segment and set conditions in segment builder.

After that create a customer journey and set audience to the segment we just create, set content in customer journey:

    1. add steps in customer journey to realize send email to customers to update their current contact and subscription information.

    2. add dynamics content like {{FormDoiSubmission.SubscriptionListNames}} in subject of an email.

    3. add first_name, last_name, E-mail, consent in email.

Save and go live the customer journey.

    Best Regards,

    Sayen Zhang
