RemoteApp Issues

Posted on by 480

I am curious if anyone can point me in the right direction for this query?  Most of our users are accessing SL (7.0 FP1) via the RemoteApp feature in Remote Desktop Services.  I am finding that frequently we have application screens that fail, and quite often printer issues.  Anyone know where I should check to see why this is happening?  It appears that everything works fine when we log directly onto the server.  Thanks.

We use RDP too.  The printer name changes each time you log in as something like "printer name (redirected 6) on TS001" the redirected number changes each time-if the user saves a specific printer that first redirected number stays and does not change to the new number.  If you click the checkboxes under printer setup for each user to on for both Use Windows Default Printer and Save As Default, this problem will go away.

    Hi Walt,

One of the first things that Dynamics SL will do (when starting) is to try and find printers. If the Dynamics SL program is opening to quickly and the session will not have time to load all of the printers. Dynamics SL will crash in some areas because of the printer not loading in time. You will most likely see this on the ROI.exe screen when trying to print.

Please try and add a delay to the remote app so that it has enough time to load the printers before Dynamics SL starts.
