How do I get conditional formatting to stick in Outlook?

I am currently setting up views for a business unit (personal views shared with the BU team) on the Activity/Email entity.

We want to set up conditional formatting on the activities, so tracked, re-assigned and modified activities have different colors. But the formatting doesn't stick.

I tried pinning the views, and saving (filters) before and after setting the conditional formatting. Whenever I close or change the view the conditional formatting disappears.

Any help or ideas are welcome!

It's an on premise solution with CRM 2011, R3. Users are using CRM for Outlook 2010.
