Updating a Field Based On Status Change

I am working with the Orders form and I am trying to update a FieldA whenever the status changes to Cancelled or Fulfilled. I created a workflow process that triggers on Status change to Update FieldA to Cancelled when status Reason is Cancelled and FieldA to Fulfilled when status reason is Fulfilled. Options for Automatic Processes is set to Start when After Before, Before. The result is, FAILURE!

If I change the workflow to update FieldA to Cancelled on Status change it works. Something with the Check Conditions is causing a problem.

Any one got an  idea?

Thanks

G

you can not update any field when state is Inactive. In this case you can use plugin.

Register this Plugin on update  of status and Pre-Operation. inside plugin you can check status and on the base of status you can assign FieldA  value , no need to update it.

    Dear G,

Mohammad is correct, you cannot update the record after you have updated the status to closed. Here are some other options for you:

    1. If you are a developer, you can write a plugin that runs before the record status is updated. Here is some information about writing plugins: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg594416.aspx

    2. Create a related table that carries the value of the FieldA, and it will still be writable even after your order status is closed.

    3. Remove the buttons from the order form (using Ribbon Workbench) and add checkboxes on the order to indicate that the order is cancelled or fulfilled, then use a workflow to update FieldA and change the status to cancelled or fulfilled.

If you found any of this helpful, please indicate it as the answer.

    Thanks,
