Migrating GP2010 and Business Portal 5.0 to a different SQL Server

Hello!

I have just sucessfully setup my first instance of GP 2010 and I am about to start on setting up CRM 2011.

I managed to setup CRM 2011 RC1 having SQL and everything installed on just taht one VM.

I noticed that in order for CRM 2011 to install properly, the SQL Server 2008 needs to be installed on a windows server 2008 machine.

My dilema is that I want all my databases on 1 SQL Server. I have a standalone SQL Server for my GP implementation but the SQL Server 2008 is running on Windows Server 2003. For me to get the databases on 1 SQL Server I need to move my GP databases over to a new box and point business portal to use those databases.

I have successfully moved the GP databases to a Windows Server 2008 box running SQL Server 2008

My question is, How do I get the business portal to point to the databases on the new server?

Adam,

The best option would likely be to contact support and have them step you through it.

You could search your installation for the old sql server to see how many places that is referenced, change these, and see what happens. Make backups of course...
